SMOCT3 Round 1: Marin pg. 1

All right, let’s do this thing!

Consider this page a sort of prologue – it’s not necessarily going to set the tone for the rest of my comic or anything. There’s a lot of stuff going on here… a LOT a lot.
If you haven’t deciphered it yet, the narrator here is the same snarky fourth wall person thing from my audition. Who, by the way, will not be interfering at all when Marin is fighting other people, because that would be an unfair advantage. In fact, as I mentioned in this page, Fourth Wall Dude/Dudette is not going to interfere much – the tank thing (yeah, those are the tanks from my audition – not sure if that was clear ) was an exception, to bring closure to Marin’s SMOCT2 experience.
BUT that doesn’t mean he/she won’t show up again! Still has a huge part to play in Marin’s story.

This time around, I’m going to try toning digitally. I received some critique on my audition that my penciling seemed a little messy, so I wanted to experiment a bit. The lines are still going to be done in pencil though! This is already taking up a lot more time than traditionally shading did, so I don’t know if this is a permanent thing yet. But to keep consistency, I’m going to try and make at least every one of my Round 1 pages like this.

Also – the comic is not going to be in all black and white! It's only this page. But you see how it kind of gradients into color? That’s going to be the color scheme for the rest of the entry. My audition entry featured Marin’s color scheme; Round 1 is going to reflect my opponent Saturnalius’s. If I make it past Round 1, each of my future entries is going to sport the color scheme of my opponent. Ideally.

Also there's my rendition of the fey! They look pretty similar to the faeries I once designed for Sailor Youseiatae's attack (one of my opponents last year), but a lot more detailed and stuff. Not to mention those faeries only showed up for like one panel anyway, and they were the first thing that came to mind when I thought 'fey'. xD

Anyways, I’m super excited to go up against Sailor Saturnalius! She looks like she’s gonna be so fun to draw

(Just a heads up, looks like Round 1's gonna be around 20 pages. 20 very busy pages.)
